Distribution of Anti-heat Wave Kit: A Lifesaving Effort

Muhammad Akram, a resident of Police Lines Colony, Bahawalpur, works as a traffic police warden and is the sole breadwinner for his family of nine. His duty stations are typically various locations at intersections where he manages traffic control in harsh and cold weather, which affects his health. Each summer, he considers buying an umbrella to shield himself from the sun and a bottle to carry water, but his limited salary and the large expenses of his family force him to compromise on these necessities.

In May 2024, AGAHE, with technical and financial support from WHH, initiated a project titled ” Heatwave Anticipatory Actions in Pakistan – 2024  (PAK-1120-21).” Under the PAK-1120-21, AGAHE distributed anti-heat wave kits to workers exposed to direct sunlight. Muhammad Akram was one of the recipient of the kit, which included hat, umbrella, water bottle, towels and ORS. He uses these items during his duty hours to stay protected.

Muhammad Akram expressed his gratitude, saying, “It was my dream to buy an umbrella and water bottle for myself to use during work, but due to financial constraints, it remained a dream each year. AGAHE fulfilled my dream, and the provided equipment saves me from the headaches I endure each day during and after duty due to the sunlight.”
