Empowering Communities for Disaster Preparedness in Punjab

AGAHE, with the support of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and in collaboration with Rescue 1122, successfully conducted a two-day Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) training on January 21-22, 2025, in UC Sehjra, District Kasur. This initiative aimed to build the capacity of communities and community institutions (CIs) to effectively manage disaster risks.
The training featured insightful presentations and live demonstrations by the Rescue 1122 team on key topics such as: Mass Casualty Incident Management, Handling Water Emergencies, Fracture Management, Fire Emergency Response, Health, Safety, and Hygiene, Water Purification Methods, Managing Foreign Body Airway Obstruction, three-Person Lift for Spinal Injury Patients
Participants engaged in interactive group activities, preparing and presenting disaster management strategies, while local stakeholders, including the UC Chairman, Vice Chairman, Numberdar, and Imam of Jamia Masjid, actively contributed to discussions.
This productive session has significantly enhanced the community’s preparedness and skills to manage disasters effectively.
