Strengthening the Value Chain for Biofortified Zinc Wheat in Pakistan
GAIN, in partnership with AGAHE, held a high-level workshop in Lahore focused on sharing experiences across Pakistan’s Biofortified Zinc Wheat (BZW) value chain.
The workshop brought together policymakers, researchers, development partners, private-sector actors, farmers, processors, and women entrepreneurs for collective learning and action.
Key highlights included:
Recognition of biofortification as a sustainable, scalable solution to micronutrient deficiencies. Progress in seed production, research, and consumer outreach under the Nutrient Enriched Crops Program Field experiences from farmers and processors across Khanewal, Multan & Bahawalpur Support from Chief Guest Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, Minister for Agriculture, Government of PunjabEmphasis was made on the importance of continued collaboration to strengthen the BZW value chain across Punjab.
